Brad Millard MA (Res), B Mus, LMus A, LTCL
Brad Millard was a Lecturer in Music at QUT, where he was Study Area Coordinator for 10 years and acted in the Head of Music. During his time at QUT he taught clarinet and saxophone and lectured in a range of units including musicianship, orchestration and arranging. He formed and was Musical Director of the QUT Big Band and was Musical Director/Conductor of musicals, showcase performances and other events such as West Side Story, and for the official opening of QUT’s Creative Industries building at Kelvin Grove, Brisbane.
As a professional freelance performing musician he has significant experience across a range of music including orchestral music, chamber music, solo performance, big band, concert band, musical theatre and has performed as a multi-instrumental woodwind player in backing bands for numerous national and international artists. He was a national finalist in the ABC Young Performers Competition and performed the Mozart Clarinet Concerto with the West Australian Symphony Orchestra. He has performed extensively with the Queensland Symphony Orchestra and the (former) Queensland Theatre Orchestra. As a student he was a principal player in the Queensland and Australian Youth Orchestras and participated in a number of international tours and was twice soloist with the Qld Youth Orchestra. He has published chapters in Routledge and Bloomsbury popular music education books. As a composer Brad has pieces in the AMEB syllabuses for clarinet and saxophone.
